From ultra-camp science fiction to edge of your seat television drama, Ross has made regular appearances in the full gamut of television genres playing a diverse range of memorable characters.

After a successful run with the Royal Shakespeare Company, 1997 saw Ross branch out into television acting with his first appearance on the small screen in the Central Television Production, Soldier Soldier. Ross made several appearances in the popular television drama playing the brash Corporal Dando alongside the series' regulars, Dougray Scott and Richard Dillane.

With his authorative manner, strong voice and commanding build, Ross is no stranger to playing strong, authority figures with roles such the affable PC Donald Stuart in the popular ITV series Rosemary and Thyme alongside Felicity Kendal and the imposing but compassionate immigration officer, John Davies from the S4C Wales television drama, Caerdydd.

More recently, Ross took on one of his most interesting television roles to date playing the brutal gay-basher Merv in the powerful Channel 4 drama, Clapham Junction. Written by acclaimed playwright Kevin Elyot and directed by award-winning director Adrian Shergold, the drama portrayed the mixed experiences of several gay men who frequent Clapham Common and whose lives interconnect over 36 hours.

Following on from the success of Clapham Junction, Ross would travel to Morocco for the retelling of a classic story on a truely biblical scale for the BBC and HBO. In the four-part television movie The Passion, Ross plays a member of the Roman crucifixion crew that nail Jesus to the cross. Cutting through the fog of so many preconceptions, Ross managed to bring a realism to his character which clearly comes across onscreen. The series was broadcast in both America and the UK over Easter 2008.

Having played the lead role of Rocky in the cult stage musical The Rocky Horror Show for two years, Ross tried his hand at science fiction of a different kind in the popular CBS television series, Lexx. Ross would later dabble in science fiction again with an appearance in the hugely popular Dr Who spin-off series Torchwood for the BBC, playing along side series regulars John Barrowman and Eve Myles.
